About Phil

Welcome to B.A.S.E. Fitness

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to check out me, and B.A.S.E. Training.

I started out in the sports and fitness world at a young age. By the age of 12 I was competing at National level in swimming and triathlon. This continued until I joined the Army at the age of 16. Whilst in the Army I continued my close relationship with fitness. I made the decision to leave the army 5 years later. Then I made the decision to join the Army again, leaving the Parachute Regiment 6 years later.

It was during my second stint in the Army I became more interested in endurance sports. I took part in many middle distance triathlon, competing in some of the toughest races in the UK. I also ran many marathons and placed 16th at the Army Marathon Championships held in Oxford. Towards the end of my service I became qualified as a Class 2 Physical Training Instructor. and spent 2 years training Parachute Regiment recruits to attempt the infamous P Company, arguably the toughest physical selection course outside of  Special Forces selection.

Since leaving the Parachute Regiment I have become qualified as a REPs Level 3 Personal Trainer and opened a fitness gym. I specialize in using training techniques that employ high intensity and bodyweight conditioning programmes.

My qualifications

  • REPs Level 3 Advanced Fitness Coach
  • REPs Level 2 Gym Instructor
  • NVQ Teaching & Coaching Adults Sports & Fitness
  • Sport UK – Coaching sports safely
